The following are Japan/Japanese-related websites that I enjoy (and in most cases, have been enjoying for a while) for one reason or another, listed below. If you have any recommendations that you feel is worthy of this page, please let me know!

Experiencing Japan

  • http://www.japan-guide.com - Japan-Guide.com - Japan-Guide.com is, hands-down, the greatest resource I’ve seen on the internet regarding information to traveling-to, living-in, or working-in Japan. It covers everything from Japan’s history, to ski reports in popular regions. They provide detailed information about specific regions of Japan, including accommodations, restaurants, and train and bus schedules.

Learning Japanese

  • http://www.jisho.org - Denshi Jisho - This site has been my favorite English-Japanese/Japanese-English dictionary on the internet. It has a very clean layout, and it’s intuitive and powerful.
  • http://www.japanesepod101.com JapanesePod101.com - JapanesePod101.com and I started our relationship before my first two-week visit to Japan. They have free professional but fun and down-to-earth podcasts to help you learn Japanese from the “What does konnichi wa mean?”level to the “watakushi wa nihongo no otaku desu yo!” level. There are several levels of membership, including a free membership. The paid memberships offer more features such as podcast transcripts, kanji (chinese characters) note PDFs, ad more. Since the time that they began, they’ve grown quite a bit, which has meant that there is more content but unfortunately more profit-driven tactics which I don’t particularly agree with. Overall, I think it’s a probably one of the best podcast-based Japanese-learning sites on the internet.
